小獅子中文教室的課程專為海外學習中文的兒童設計,課程由資深香港中文教師精心研發,課程涵蓋 3 歲至 GCSE 程度 ,無論任何年齡或基礎,都能找到合適的課程。有別於一般的中文教學,我們的課程著重引起學生的學習動機,課程內容配合學童於海外的生活經驗,讓他們能更有效及有意義地學習。我們採用 螺旋式教學法,循序漸進地建立語言能力,幫助孩子穩固基礎並逐步提升。

Cubbies Chinese Learning Centre's courses are specifically designed for children learning Chinese overseas. Our curriculum, meticulously developed by experienced Hong Kong Chinese teachers, covers levels from age 3 up to GCSE, ensuring that there is a suitable course for every age and proficiency.

Unlike conventional Chinese language programs, our courses focus on sparking students' motivation to learn. The content is tailored to the everyday experiences of children living abroad, allowing them to learn more effectively and meaningfully. We employ a spiral teaching method to gradually build language skills, helping children solidify their foundation and progressively improve.

The teachers at Cubbies Chinese Learning Centre possess extensive teaching experience and use an engaging, lively style that distinguishes our classes from typical Chinese courses, ensuring that students enjoy every session. Moreover, our teaching materials are exclusively owned by Cubbies Chinese Learning Centre. They are uniquely designed, incorporating interactive elements and real-life content to enable children to fall in love with learning Chinese in a relaxed and enjoyable environment and to confidently apply the language in daily life. Our goal is not only to teach the language but also to inspire interest, nurturing their linguistic intuition and cultural understanding.

  • 適合英語母語,以學習廣東話聽講為主

    Suitable for English native speakers, focusing primarily on listening and speaking in Cantonese.

    廣東話會話課程專為 3 歲以上,以英語為母語的小朋友而設計。課程透過唱歌、遊戲、繪本及手工活動,運用生動有趣的方法訓練小朋友廣東話口語能力。由認識不同的廣東話字詞開始,繼而建立廣東話句子的意識。豐富的教學活動讓小朋友在不經意間開口説廣東話,讓學習自然而然地發生。每節課堂都會有堂課及功課,讓家長能跟進小孩所學,增加學習成效。

    This course is designed specifically for children aged 3 and above whose native language is English. Through singing, games, storybooks, and hands-on activities, the course employs lively and engaging methods to develop young children’s Cantonese speaking skills. It begins with the recognition of various Cantonese words and phrases and gradually builds an awareness of Cantonese sentence structures. A rich variety of teaching activities encourages children to speak Cantonese effortlessly, allowing learning to occur naturally. Each lesson includes both in-class instruction and homework, enabling parents to monitor their child's progress and enhance learning effectiveness.

  • 適合廣東話母語,但未有中文識字經驗的幼兒


    Suitable for Cantonese native-speaking young children with no prior experience in reading or writing Chinese.

    啟蒙班共有三個級別,第一級適合3 歲以上,以廣東話為母語但未有識字經驗的幼兒。啟蒙班主要透過繪本故事、遊戲及兒歌加強小朋友廣東話口語能力,並由獨體字開始認識基本中文字,鞏固幼兒的認讀基礎,在教授過程中認識筆順,並培養小朋友學習中文的興趣。於第一級累積一定的單詞後,第二級除了繼續教授基本中文字外,學童開始能朗讀老師設計的句子,讓學生在學習新知識的同時能重溫以往所學並應用於其他閱讀中。第三級則開始建立閱讀短詩及短文章的能力,幫助小朋友消除面對不同中文字時的恐懼,能有自信地自行理解老師安排的文章。每節課堂都會有堂課及功課,讓家長能跟進小孩所學,增加學習成效。

    The Beginner Class has three levels. Level 1 is suitable for children aged 3 and above whose native language is Cantonese but have no reading experience. The Beginner Class mainly strengthens children's Cantonese speaking skills through storybooks, games, and songs. It introduces basic Chinese characters starting with single-character words, consolidating the foundation of children's character recognition, teaching stroke order during the process, and cultivating children’s interest in learning Chinese. After accumulating a certain number of words in Level 1, Level 2 continues to teach basic Chinese characters while students begin to read sentences designed by the teacher. This allows students to review what they have learned while applying it to other readings. In Level 3, students start to develop the ability to read short poems and short passages, helping children overcome their fear of encountering unfamiliar characters, and gain the confidence to independently comprehend the texts arranged by their teacher. Each lesson includes both in-class practice and homework, enabling parents to monitor their child's progress and enhance learning effectiveness.

  • 適合已能認讀及書寫簡單中文字的兒童


    Suitable for children who are already able to read and write basic Chinese characters.

    基礎班共有四個級別。第一級適合5歲以上,已有識字經驗,能認讀簡單中文字(如日、月、火、田、土、爸、媽等)。基礎班主要透過閱讀繪本故事,按部首認識字詞、句式及基礎語文知識。第一級每節會認識及書寫 6 - 8 個詞語,除了認讀,課堂著重學生能書寫中文字。期間會加入簡單句式,讓學生能自行寫出簡單句子。第二級開始根據主題閱讀簡單文章,認識文章內等字詞及句式,並回答簡單問題。第三至四級將會大量引入不同類型的文章,讓學生增加識字量,並能自行創作句子、回答題問。四個級別的教學過程均會加入不同類型的遊戲,讓學生在遊戲中運用所學詞語,並加深記憶,寓學於樂。

    The Intermediate Class consists of four levels. Level 1 is suitable for children aged 5 and above who have prior experience with reading and can recognize simple Chinese characters (such as 日, 月, 火, 田, 土, 爸, 媽, etc.). This level primarily uses storybooks to introduce words, phrases, sentence structures, and basic language knowledge based on radicals. In Level 1, each session introduces and teaches 6 - 8 new words. Besides recognition, the focus of the class is on enabling students to write Chinese characters. Simple sentence structures will be incorporated during lessons, allowing students to form basic sentences on their own. In Level 2, students will begin reading simple articles based on themes, recognizing words and sentence structures within the articles, and answering basic questions. Levels 3 and 4 will introduce a variety of different types of articles, increasing students' vocabulary and allowing them to create their own sentences and answer questions. Throughout all four levels, the curriculum incorporates various types of games, helping students apply the words they have learned in these games, deepening their memories and making learning enjoyable.

  • 適合9 歲或以上有一定中文程度的學童


    Suitable for students aged 9 and above with a certain level of Chinese proficiency.

    進階班共有兩個級別,適合9 歲或以上有一定中文程度的學童。進階班以香港小學中文課程為基礎,進行閱讀班解、文章分析及培養寫作能力,包括記敘文、描寫文、説明文及書信),進階班第一級主要以香港小學三至四年級的中文課程作為課堂內容,第二級則以香港小學五至六年級的中文課程作為課堂內容,第二級會加入少GCSE中文考試的類似型作課程內容,為應考GCSE 作好準備。

    The Advanced Class is divided into two levels, suitable for children aged 9 or above with a certain level of Chinese proficiency. The course is based on Hong Kong's primary school Chinese curriculum and focuses on reading comprehension, article analysis, and developing writing skills, including narrative writing, descriptive writing, expository writing, and letter writing. Level 1 of the Advanced Class primarily follows the curriculum of Hong Kong primary school grades 3 to 4, while Level 2 follows the curriculum of grades 5 to 6. Level 2 will also introduce content similar to the GCSE Chinese exam, preparing well for the GCSE exam.

  • 適合已報考GCSE 中文科的同學


    Suitable for students who have already enrolled in the GCSE Chinese course.

    GCSE 中文應試班適合已報考GCSE 中文科的同學報讀。課程針對GCSE 中文科聽説讀寫四份考卷進行操練,教授各種應試及翻譯技巧,熟習試題及溫習考核範圍,並協助學生擬訂口試的説話內容,進行模擬試訓練,讓同學在GCSE 中文科以獲取9 為目標。

    The GCSE Chinese Exam Preparation Class is designed for students who have registered for the GCSE Chinese exam. The course focuses on practicing the four exam papers—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—teaching various exam and translation techniques, familiarizing students with exam questions and the syllabus, and assisting them in drafting oral exam content. It also includes mock exam training, all with the aim of achieving a target score of 9 in the GCSE Chinese exam.

在英國教授中文,首個也是最大的挑戰,就是市面上幾乎找不到一套真正適合海外兒童學習「廣東話+繁體字」的教材。我們發現,坊間許多中文教室使用的教材大多以普通話及簡體字為主,不但與香港家庭的語言習慣不符,內容亦往往過於刻板沉悶、與海外兒童的生活經驗脫節,難以激發他們的學習興趣。

正因如此,Kristy 老師 決定親自設計及編寫一套適合海外兒童的廣東話中文教材,從字詞啟蒙開始,一步步銜接至閱讀理解、創意寫作,涵蓋程度由學前到 GCSE,建立一個完整、有系統的學習階梯。

我們的教材特色包括:

Using Our Self-Designed Learning Materials Tailored for Overseas Children to Learn Cantonese and Traditional Chinese

When it comes to teaching Chinese in the UK, the very first — and perhaps the greatest — challenge is the lack of suitable learning materials for overseas children learning Cantonese with Traditional Chinese characters. We found that many Chinese language schools rely on materials that are primarily designed for Mandarin learners using Simplified Chinese. These resources often do not align with the language background of Hong Kong families, and are typically too rigid, outdated, and disconnected from the everyday experiences of children growing up overseas — making it difficult to spark their interest in learning.

This is precisely why Miss Kristy took it upon herself to personally design and develop a unique curriculum tailored specifically for overseas Cantonese-speaking children. Starting from basic word recognition, her curriculum gradually progresses through reading comprehension and creative writing, covering levels from preschool all the way to GCSE. It forms a complete and systematic learning pathway that supports learners every step of the way.
